Description
This milestone, dating from the mid-18th century, is located approximately 200 yards south-west of Coldside. It is made of sandstone and stands about 18 inches high, featuring two inscribed faces and a rounded back. One face is marked with "RB" for Rothbury, while the other has an "H" for Hexham. The Rothbury - Hexham Turnpike, which this milestone references, was opened around 1751.
