Description

This milestone, located approximately a quarter of a mile west of Coltpark, dates from the mid-18th century. It is made of sandstone and stands about 18 inches high, featuring two inscribed faces and a rounded back. One face is marked with "RB" for Rothbury, while the other displays "H" for Hexham. The Rothbury-Hexham turnpike, which it references, was opened around 1751.
