Description

Milestone at Ewesley Station, dating from the mid-18th century, is made of sandstone and stands approximately 18 inches high. It has two faces and a rounded back. One face is inscribed with "RB" for Rothbury, while the other has "H" for Hexham. This milestone marks the Rothbury-Hexham turnpike, which was opened around 1751.
