Description
Chirm Farmhouse is a house built in the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a graduated Lakeland slate roof. The building has three storeys and three bays, with a two-storey, two-bay addition on the left side. It has a central staircase plan and is one room deep, with an early 19th-century outshut at the rear.
The front of the house includes a central half-glazed door from the 19th century, as well as sash windows on the ground and first floors, and 4-pane Yorkshire sashes on the second floor. The roof was re-roofed in the early 19th century, showcasing flat coping and earlier reverse-stepped coping underneath. The end stacks have been renewed but sit on their original bases.
Inside, the farmhouse features two two-panelled doors, panelled shutters, and a staircase with stick balusters.
