Description

The Crown Public House, located on Market Street, dates to the 18th century. It is a three-storey, three-window building fronted with painted ashlar. The roof is slate, featuring coped verges and kneelers, with two brick chimneys. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars. A mid-19th century shop front is located on the ground floor to the left, characterized by three reeded pilaster strips. A throughpassage is present, off-centre to the left, and was formerly accessed under a stone hood. A central window is positioned above the passage. A flush panel doorway with a rectangular light above is on the right side of the ground floor. A gabled rear extension of three storeys and two windows is present, one window being round-headed, along with a further two-storey, two-window extension.
