Description

Offices, originally a house, then a school, and now Education Offices, dating from the mid-18th century and around 1840, constructed in three distinct sections.

The central section, dating to the mid-18th century, is built of brick in English Garden Wall Bond with a stone slate roof. It is three storeys high and four bays wide, featuring rusticated quoins. The windows are 12-pane sashes with moulded sills and flat arches topped with moulded keystones. A band runs above the ground floor, and another band runs along the second-floor sills.

The right section, dating to around 1840, is constructed of ashlar with a Welsh slate roof, and is in a Tudor style. It is two storeys high with four windows on the ground floor and three above. A central, canted oriel window with castellated detailing sits on the first floor. The outer windows are topped with gables. A castellated Tudor-arched carriage entry is located to the right. A doorway to the rear facade includes two projecting square towers, with windows featuring hoodmoulds and a castellated parapet.

The left section is considered to have less architectural significance than the other parts of the building. A Teachers’ Centre built in the early 20th century to the rear is also not considered to be of special interest.
