KNARESDALE WITH KIRKHAUGH BURNSTONES Burnstones Cottage and adjacent outbuilding to south

GV II

House, and outbuilding. C18 extended and remodelled early C19. Squared rubble with dressings, stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 2 wide bays. Central renewed door with alternating tooled and margined jambs; 12-pane sash to right and renewed 16-pane sash to left. 1st floor has 16-pane sashes, the right renewed. The windows in the left bay have tooled and margined lintels and sills, those in the right bay have tooled stone surrounds. Outbuilding to left has elliptical-arched door, with rusticated tooled and margined surround, adjacent to house, then lower section set forward with catslide roof; small window and boarded door with tooled and margined surround in right return. Stone stacks to gables and ridge of house. Left return has blocked 1st floor window and stone end stack to right. Rear elevation of outbuilding shows 2 C18 windows with tooled stone surrounds, one blocked.
