Description

Old Moor Farmhouse is a house dating to around 1840, built on the site of an earlier building. It is constructed of squared and tooled stone with ashlar dressings, and has a blue slate roof. The house is two storeys high and has a symmetrical design with two wide bays. A central doorway features a basket arch and a broad, chamfered surround, now fitted with 20th-century small-paned glazing. On the ground floor are three-light mullioned windows with hoodmoulds, containing original 18-pane casements. The first floor has corbelled-out half dormers with similar two-light windows, fitted with 15-pane casements. A projecting eaves course runs around the house, and the half dormers and end gables have coped verges with moulded kneelers. Stepped and corniced end stacks are corbelled out. There are two projecting rear wings with similar detailing. A 20th-century extension with a porch to the rear does not represent significant architectural detail.
