Description

The gateways, wall, and railings located approximately 40 yards west of Belsay County First School date from around 1870 and are constructed of ashlar and cast iron. There are three gateways that are connected by walls and railings.

The main gateway on the left features short sections of convex walling that lead to chamfered rectangular piers topped with pyramidal caps. To the right, a similar wall is followed by a low chamfered wall that has plain, square-section railings on top. This railing is interrupted in two places by gateways that also have similar piers.

These structures are included for their group value.
