Description

East Lodge to Belsay Hall is a lodge built in the late 19th century for Sir Arthur Middleton. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a Lakeland slate roof. The building has an L-shaped plan and is a single storey with three bays, including a projecting cross-gabled left bay. The lodge has raised quoins and, in the re-entrant angle, there is a four-panel door set within a stone corniced porch that has a blocking course and antefixae. The windows are sash style, set in recessed chamfered surrounds, and the window in the left bay has a bracketed cornice. The gabled roof is adorned with bargeboards and has a corniced ridge along with end stacks.
