Description
The Arcade is a row of three houses built in the 1830s by Sir Charles Monck. The buildings were later refronted in the 19th century. They are constructed of ashlar stone and topped with Welsh slate roofs. Each house has two storeys and two bays, featuring panelled doors and 2-light windows with 4-pane sashes in each light. Houses 3 and 4 have gabled half dormers, while house 2 has a double-span, shallow-pitch roof with a banded stack in the central valley. Houses 3 and 4 have gabled roofs with kneelers, flat coping, and banded ridge stacks. This row is part of a planned village street that originally included a total of 13 houses and was formerly arcaded on the ground floor.
