Description
This barn, dating from the late 17th century, is located approximately 4 meters northwest of Number 2 Front Street in Greatham. It features random limestone rubble construction that has been repaired with brick, and it has angle quoins. The roof, added in the mid to late 19th century, is hipped and covered with clay Gaelic tiles, complete with stone ridge copings and kneelers at the corners. The barn is two storeys high.
The north front, which faces the street, has an off-centre boarded door on the left side, next to a blocked window opening that has a timber lintel. There are five blocked window openings on the first floor, symmetrically placed with stone sills and brick basket-arched heads, grouped towards the right side of the elevation. An external stone staircase is attached to the south front.
To the left (east) is an extension of the same proportions, featuring a continuation of the roof. There is also a pent extension on the south side and a single-storey building on the right (west) side, but these are not of particular interest.
