Description

No. 2 Front Street is an early 19th-century terraced house with a mid-19th century extension. The building is constructed of brick and has a roof covered with late 20th-century interlocking pantiles. It is two storeys high with two windows. A timber pilaster and entablature surround frames the doorway on the right-hand side, sheltering a six-panelled door with an overlight. Late 19th-century sash windows have stucco flat arches and painted stone sills, set within significantly reduced openings. A hipped roof incorporates a ridge stack. The return to Front Street features two bays with matching windows in matching openings. A two-storey pent roof extension adjoins the west side. The original window openings were large, suggesting a possible early industrial use, likely related to weaving. The building is included in the register for its group value.
