Description
No. 4 Front Street is a terraced house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick and features a late 20th-century interlocking pantile roof with two end stacks. The house is two storeys tall and has a symmetrical façade. The central doorway has a six-panelled door, an overlight, and a simple surround with pilasters and an entablature. There are two late 19th-century sash windows on each floor, set in reduced openings that still show the original brick flat arches, although these are partly covered by stucco lintels. The windows have painted stone sills, and there is a stepped brick eaves cornice. At the rear, there is a two-storey pent extension. The size of the original window openings suggests that the building may have initially been used for industrial purposes, likely weaving. This property is included for its group value.
