Description

Wilton Cottage, dating from around 1700, features a mid-19th century extension. The building is constructed of random rubble that is rendered and painted, with quoins at the corners. It has a mid-20th century concrete tiled roof with gable copings and a kneeler on the left side. The cottage has been altered with rebuilt end stacks and is one and a half storeys tall, displaying asymmetrical fenestration.

On the left-hand end, there is a boarded door, with a late 19th century Yorkshire sash window to the left and a staircase sash window with glazing bars to the right. Further to the right, there is an early 20th century canted bay window on the ground floor and a large mid-20th century half-dormer window above, which contains casements. A small Yorkshire sash window with glazing bars is located below the eaves at the left-hand end. Gable-end garret lights are also present. The plan is unusual, as the original doorway seems to have been located in the right gable end near the hall hearth.

To the right, there is a single-storey lean-to extension that features a four-panelled door and a mid-20th century gabled timber porch. Although the interior has been altered, it retains two pairs of untied raised crucks of irregular shape. The left extension is not considered of interest.
