Description
This is a cottage dating from the 17th century, with alterations and extensions from the 19th and 20th centuries. It has colour-washed stone rubble walls and a gable-ended slate roof, with stone rubble gable end stacks. The cottage features a 2-room plan, with each room heated by a gable end stack. There is likely a 19th-century 1-room extension at the right gable end. The original 2-room part has been modified into 1 room, with an entrance located in the left-hand gable end.
The building is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical front with two windows, one on the first floor. The windows are mid-20th century metal frame casements; those on the ground floor are set beneath cambered stone arches with stone dripcourses above, while the first-floor window is located in a gabled dormer. A 20th-century plank door is situated at the left gable end, which adjoins No. 16. At the right-hand gable end, there is a slightly projecting 1-room extension, likely from the 19th century, featuring a re-used 2-light stone mullion window lintel in the gable end.
The interior was inaccessible during the survey, but it is known to contain very heavy cross beams and, according to the owner, an open fireplace with a stone lintel.
