Description
No. 34 Town Wall is a house dating from the late 18th century, constructed from rendered stone. It has a mid-20th century concrete tiled roof with end stacks, one of which has been rebuilt. The building stands three storeys high with a basement and features two bays. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door with an overlight that has patterned glazing bars, all framed by a painted stone architrave and topped with a floating pediment. To the left of the entrance is a renewed ground-floor sash window with glazing bars. The other windows are tripartite sashes, also renewed, and include painted stone sills. At the rear, there is a tall stair window that is sashed with glazing bars.
Inside, the property features a fluted staircase arch and an altered flying staircase with a ramped handrail, turned newels, and stick balusters. The ground-floor room on the left has six-panelled doors set in reeded architraves and a ceiling cornice with leaf moulding. There is a later flat-roofed rear extension that is not of interest.
