Description

Coatsay Moor Farmhouse is a large farmhouse built in the 17th century and rebuilt in 1713, as indicated by the date on the doorcase. It has early 19th-century additions and alterations. The exterior features pebble-dashed masonry and a roof made of concrete ridged tiles, along with rebuilt brick chimney stacks. The building has a T-plan layout with an off-centre stair-wing at the rear.

The two-storey, four-bay wide garden front has a fragment of a plinth on the right side. In the third bay, there is a bolection-moulded stone doorcase with a scrolled pediment supported by enriched consoles. The tympanum above the door contains a relief of a head and mitre, along with a datestone inscribed with "IBT 1713." To the left of the door, there is a wide flat-roofed late 20th-century sun-lounge. The windows have been replaced with 12-pane sashes that feature projecting sills. The steeply-pitched roof has moulded coping on the gables and shaped kneelers, with end and ridge stacks, as well as a truncated stepped external chimney on the right return.

The two-storey stair-wing includes a 20-pane round-arched window with a radial-glazed head. Inside, early 19th-century fittings include several six-panel doors in architraves and a two-flight cut-string dogleg staircase with stick balusters. The sun-lounge and lean-to additions flanking the stair-wing and on the left return are not considered of special interest.
