Description

The garden wall and gate piers located south of Number 16 and Number 18 are from the early 19th century. The wall is made of coursed limestone rubble, while the gate piers are constructed from sandstone ashlar. There are a pair of cylindrical piers with a top band and a low conical cap at the right end of Number 16. The low wall, featuring chamfered coping, encloses five sides of an irregular octagon. The wall decreases in height as it approaches Number 18 and connects to a short section of rebuilt rubble wall near the left return of Number 18. The rebuilt section on the left is not of special interest, but the structure is included for its group value.
