Description

Hall Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in 1656, with extensive remodeling in the early 19th century. It features painted brick construction, a hipped slate roof, and two brick wall stacks, arranged in a T-plan. The building is two stories tall with a basement and has a three-bay front. The central entrance has a six-panel door with a traceried fanlight and a 20th-century wooden doorcase, accessed by a flight of steps. Flanking the door are single glazing bar sash windows, while the larger windows from the earlier phase are visible around the 19th-century windows. On the first floor, there are three glazing bar top-hung casements. An earth bank in front of the house conceals the basement, which is actually the ground floor of the original 17th-century house. To the right, there is a lower range with a semi-circular headed niche and a ramped wall leading to the gate post. On the left side, a brick wall contains a reset keystone dated 1656. At the rear, a stone cornice indicates the location of the original back door.

Inside, there is a plain chamfered beam in the smaller two-story service wing at the rear. Some reset 17th-century panelling and two decorative panels have been reused over a doorway to the upper floor, along with doors that incorporate 17th-century wainscoting with attractive lyre-scrolled decoration. The 17th-century hall features a fine moulded beam with a stepped stop. The upper ground floor is early 19th century, with shuttered windows and two semi-circular headed doorways leading to the stair hall. The drawing room has a curved end with a full cornice and two balanced curved front cupboards.
