Description

This is a late 17th and early 18th century house, significantly altered in the 19th century. It is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with ashlar quoins and dressings, and a pantile roof topped by two brick gable stacks. The two-storey, three-bay front has a plinth, a band of ashlar at the first-floor level, and a dentillated brick eaves course. Single molded stones, remnants of an early 18th century ashlar eaves course, are visible at each end of the eaves. The centrally positioned front door features six panels, a flush ashlar surround, and a lintel with a raised keystone. It is flanked by single windows, and two further windows are located on the first floor. All windows are glazing bar sashes. An ashlar datestone dated 1724 with the initials GF is positioned between the first-floor windows, though its asymmetrical placement suggests caution when interpreting its significance. The right-hand room contains a stop-chamfered spine beam with run-out stops characteristic of the 17th century.
