Description

The Bell headstone, located 4 metres southeast of the Church of St. Romald, is a small sandstone headstone dating from 1757. It features a set-back semicircular top and a recessed panel with a moulded edge that is inscribed: "Here lies the Body of Eliz: ye Daughter of Will: and Eliz: Bell, who Died ye ... of April 1757 Aged 25 years." The reverse side has a central fielded panel adorned with a Greek key border, and the top displays a relief of a semicircular fan.
