Description

The garden wall and attached garden house, located north of Burn Hall, date from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. The wall is constructed of sandstone rubble that is thinly rendered, featuring sloped stone coping, with an inner leaf made of brick and a later section also in brick. The garden house, which is attached to the stone wall, is made of rendered rubble with ashlar and brick dressings and has no roof.

The long, curved wall encloses the garden on the side facing the river and includes the garden house, which has a heated section at the north end with a stone outer leaf. There is a 19th-century wrought-iron gate set in a round brick arch within the later brick section. The house is two storeys high with three bays, but it is roofless, and the flat stone lintels above the empty door and windows are visible. The wall coping is partly obscured by plants, and the house is in a derelict state at the time of the survey.
