Description
Cottage north-west of Low Burn Hall Farmhouse, built in the late 17th century, is constructed from sandstone rubble with some quoins and ashlar dressings, topped with a pantiled roof and a brick chimney. The cottage is two storeys high and has three bays. The central doorway features rendered jambs and a wooden lintel, while the two ground-floor sash windows have flat stone lintels and projecting stone sills. The two first-floor rectangular windows have chamfered stone surrounds, with the left window containing a mullioned frame. A brick chimney with a tall yellow pot is located at the left end. At the time of the survey, the cottage was derelict, empty, and had a damaged roof. Inside, the left ground-floor room features a massive arched beam in the ceiling with a stopped chamfer.
