Description

The farm buildings located 15 metres north of Cotsford Grange Farmhouse date from the late 18th century to early 19th century and are currently used for storage. Constructed from limestone rubble with dressed quoins and pantiled roofs, these linked buildings form an L-plan stable and cartshed with a granary to the east and a range of loose-boxes to the north. The buildings vary in height and feature reversed crow-stepped gables.

The stable has five bays and a hayloft, with altered openings that include two Dutch doors under segmental brick heads, and the roof has a raised right verge. The truncated two-storey, two-bay cartshed has three segmental brick arches and two boarded openings above. The gabled east return of the lower two-storey granary has several blocked breathers and a large blocked segmental-arched opening with a smaller similar opening above. The one-storey, two-bay range of loose-boxes includes a large 20th-century vehicle entrance in the west wall. Inside the stable, there are four stalls with shaped cast-iron partitions. A one-storey addition to the rear of the loose-boxes is not of special interest.

Despite the alterations, these farm buildings are a picturesque and rare survival in an area that has become extensively urbanised.
