Description

The Cottage is a house built in the late 18th century, with 19th-century additions. It features pebble-dashed masonry and graduated green slate roofs, along with brick chimneys and pantiled roofs at the rear. The building consists of a main block with flanking wings. The two-storey front has five bays and includes 12-pane sash windows. It has a steeply-pitched roof with raised verges and two 19th-century chimneys at the ends. The entrance, located in the left return and framed by a 20th-century porch, has a renewed pedimented doorcase. The later 19th-century left wing at the rear has a single tripartite window, a steeply-pitched roof, and a chimney on the left end. The two-storey early 19th-century right wing is set back and features a tripartite window on each floor, a steeply-pitched roof with a raised right verge, and a truncated chimney. The gabled rear elevation of the right wing shows remnants of a Venetian window surround on the ground floor, with a 12-pane sash window above it. There are 20th-century additions to the rear that are not considered of special interest.
