Description

A terrace of six houses located on King Street, Barnard Castle, built in the early 19th century. Numbers 7 and 9 are constructed of coursed squared stone with smaller stones, while number 11 is rendered; all have stone plinths and ashlar dressings, with quoins and rubble returns. The roof is covered in stone slates, featuring stone chimneys except for a rendered chimney on number 11. The houses are two storeys high, arranged in a 3:2:2:2:1:3 window range. Segmental, keyed vehicle arches are located in the second bay of number 17 and the first bay of number 7. Steps lead up to six-panel doors with overlights; numbers 7, 9, and 11 have glazing bars in the door overlights, all set within plain stone surrounds, with paired doors at numbers 15 and 17. The sashes have glazing bars and architraves on numbers 15 and 17, while the others have plain stone surrounds, with glazing bars on number 11. A first-floor sill band is present on all houses except number 11. The roof has stone gable copings on moulded kneelers, with ridge chimneys. The interior has not been inspected.
