Description
There are two headstones located approximately 9 metres south-west of the Church of St. James, dating from 1716 and 1721, dedicated to Anthony Hodgshon and Mary Hodgshon of High Wham. They are made of sandstone ashlar and stand 0.4 and 0.3 metres high, respectively. Each headstone features spirals and paterae flanking a face. The headstone for Anthony, on the left, has a shaped top and a serrated shape below the face that may represent a cravat. The headstone for Mary, on the right, has a straight top with a low-relief flower and leaves on the top edge, along with a dove depicted below the central face.
