Description

The castle wall behind Hatfield College dates from the 12th century and is constructed of coursed squared sandstone. It features a high wall with a square projection at the north end and a parapet that has been added, which includes an eroded coat of arms on the inner face. The outer face of the wall has two chamfered setbacks. The site also includes the locations of a square tower at the north end and a round tower below the Dining-room Block.
