Description

The castle walls terrace wall located north of Bow Lane is a Grade I listed structure. It is believed to be part of the Kingsgate postern of the castle's defensive works, dating from the 12th century and 17th century. The wall is constructed from coursed squared sandstone and features a brick parapet with ashlar dressings. It includes a stone retaining wall that has a chamfered set-back and a scalloped brick parapet topped with flat stone coping.
