Description

This milestone, located approximately 400 metres east of the White House, dates from the early 19th century. It is made of painted ashlar and stands as a square tooled block about half a metre high, topped with a low domed pyramidal shape. The milestone is set diagonally to the road, with tooled frames that enclose the inscriptions "EDGE 3 1/2" on the west face and "MIDN 6" on the east face. Additionally, there is an Ordnance Survey benchmark on the east face.
