Description
30 and 32 Front Street are two houses built around 1840. They are constructed from coursed squared sandstone with ashlar dressings, a plinth, and chamfered quoins. The roofs are made of Welsh slate and feature stone gable copings, along with renewed brick and stone chimneys. Each house has two storeys and three bays.
No. 30, on the left, has quoins only on the left side. It features steps leading up to a central five-panel door set in a chamfered stone surround with a label mould above. The windows have similar stone surrounds, with sashes that include glazing bars and moulded stone sills. The house has stone eaves gutter brackets and a chimney on the left end.
No. 32, on the right, has similar stone surrounds and mouldings for its renewed central door, flanked by 20th-century cross windows. The first-floor sashes also include glazing bars, and there is a central stone-mullioned window with two Tudor-arched lights. Chamfered kneelers support the gable copings, and there is a 20th-century stone chimney on the right end.
The left return of No. 30 features small shaped sash windows on the second floor, along with a blind quatrefoil and cross decoration. There is a 20th-century one-storey extension on the left return of No. 30 that is not of interest.
