Barn And Wheelhouse To South East Of Hutton Fields East Farmhouse

The barn and wheelhouse, located to the south-east of Hutton Fields East farmhouse, date from the late 18th century and early 19th century. They are constructed of rubble with cut quoins and dressings, featuring pantile roofs with stone slates at the eaves. The barn is tall and oriented north-south, with the wheelhouse situated on the west side.

The east elevation of the barn has central boarded double doors set under an elliptical arch within a tooled-and-margined surround. There is an external stone stair leading to an upper door on the left side, along with slit vents. The left return of the barn features a pigeon opening with a stone alighting shelf in the gable, while the right return also has slit vents. The rear wheelhouse includes a doorway flanked by small windows in the gable end, and the stepped left return has a part-slatted window.
