Description

The granary and stable located to the west of West Middleton Farmhouse date from the late 18th century or early 19th century. The structure is built of rubble with cut gable copings and features a graduated stone slate roof. It has two storeys with two bays, along with a one-storey left bay. Each section includes a stable door and a small window to the right, and both sides have coped gables. The left side has a six-pane fixed upper window above the roof of the single-storey bay, while the right side features an external stone stair leading to a boarded door. All openings are topped with timber lintels.

Inside, the granary contains two collar-beam trusses with two levels of purlins and a ridge-piece, with the purlins secured by tusk tenons. This building is included for its group value, although the adjacent cartshed to the west is not considered of special interest.
