Description
This building, located at 35 South Street, is a pair of houses dating from the early 19th century. They are constructed of English garden wall bond brick with painted ashlar dressings and a plinth, while the right return gable features sandstone rubble. The roof is covered with Welsh slate and has brick chimneys. The houses are two storeys tall and have four windows.
House number 35 features a four-panelled door with a fanlight that has glazing bars, set within an open-pedimented doorcase supported by panelled pilasters, located in the first bay. House number 36 has a four-panelled door with an overlight beneath a wedge stone lintel in the third bay. Both houses have similar lintels above the sash windows with glazing bars, and there is a narrow sash window to the left of the door of number 35. Additionally, there is a large inserted oriel window on the first floor in the second bay. The ground floor windows are fitted with external shutters, and a boot-scraper is recessed beside the door of number 35. The low-pitched roof features three ridge chimneys.
