Description
This row of houses at Wolfcleugh, located about 200 metres south of Rookhope Burn, dates from the late 18th century and was originally built as lead-miners' houses. The structure is made of sandstone rubble, featuring some quoins and ashlar dressings, and has a stone-flagged roof. The building is two storeys high and consists of nine bays arranged in groups of 2, 2, 3, and 2. The second, fourth, sixth, and eighth bays have boarded doors, some of which are damaged, while the other bays on the ground floor have empty square windows, with the left end window partly blocked. The first floor features small square windows, some with glazing bars. Each section of the building has a chimney at the right end. There is a full-width pent extension at the rear. The houses are included in the listing for their historic interest and were empty and derelict at the time of the survey.
