Description
Pine Cottage and Ivy Cottage are three houses built around 1863 by S.S. Teulon for Rev. Daniel Capper. They are constructed from snecked sandstone in various colors, with ashlar quoins and dressings, and feature roofs made of blue and green slates. The buildings are two stories tall and consist of five bays, with a porch extension on the left side. The doors in the left porch, the wide center bay, and the right return gable have been renewed. The front features a full-height central gable flanked by lower gables over dormers. To the right of the central bay is a three-light window, while adjacent bays have two-light windows, and single first-floor lights flank these three bays. Most windows are casements with glazing bars, but Ivy Cottage on the right has 20th-century glazing with top-hung casements. The steeply-pitched roofs have chimneys with high-sloped coping located to the right of center and at the rear. There are later rear extensions that use the original materials. In front of the houses, there is an area enclosed by sandstone rubble walls approximately 80 cm high, with a wooden gate for each house.
