Description

These walls and gates date to around 1863 and were designed by S.S. Teulon for Reverend Daniel Capper. They are located on the south side of the village street, in front of Ivy Cottage, Moor View, and Old Church House. The walls are constructed from dry sandstone rubble with rounded coping stones. Some stone flag jambs are present, along with wood gates. The walls are approximately 80 centimeters high, with round-topped stone jambs marking the positions of the gates. A wide four-bar gate is situated in front of the garage of Shangri-La, while post gates lead to Shangri-La and Ivy Cottage. A renewed wood gate serves Church House. This represents group value as a notable example of Victorian estate boundary work.
