Description

The walls on the north side of the village street in front of South View, Woodside Cottage, The Cottage, Mansion Cottage, Corner Cottage, and the Vicarage were built around 1863 by S.S. Teulon for Rev. Daniel Capper. They are made of dry sandstone rubble with round coping and feature some stone flag jambs, ashlar piers, and wooden gates. The walls are approximately 80 cm high and ramp up to round-topped gate jambs, except in front of the Vicarage, which has square gate piers topped with ball finials and overhanging pyramidal coping. The gates consist of plain posts, with 20th-century wrought iron vehicle gates in front of The Cottage and a square-post-and-rail gate leading to the Vicarage.
