Description
The walls, piers, and gates enclosing the yard of the Church of St. James are made of dry-stone rubble. The walls feature thin through stones below a round coping of vertically-set stones. At the east end on the north side and both ends on the south side, the walls are interrupted by gate piers. The piers are constructed from ashlar and are square in shape, with chamfered plinths, roll-moulded corners, and high coping that has trefoil-pierced projections. The tops of the piers taper to narrow points that sweep out into three points. The gates are made of panelled wood, with the upper open panels featuring crosses.
