Description

Boldron Farmhouse and attached barn date from the mid-18th century. The farmhouse is constructed of roughly-coursed rubble with cut stone dressings, and has a graduated Lakeland slate roof. The south elevation is divided into two parts. The farmhouse section is two storeys and two bays, with a roughly-centred part-glazed five-panel door set within a stone surround, featuring horizontal blocks at the head and foot of each jamb. It has four-pane sash windows with cut stone lintels and sills. The left gable has a coping with a moulded kneeler, and there are end stacks. To the right of the farmhouse is a two-storey barn, two bays wide, with central boarded doors flanked by part-slatted windows, each with a slit vent above. The barn's right gable also has a coping with a moulded kneeler. The right return side of the barn shows a boarded pitching door. The rear elevation of the farmhouse includes an outshut with a four-pane casement window and a four-pane Yorkshire sash window. The barn has an external stone staircase leading to a boarded door in an irregular stone surround.
