Description
Nos. 87, 87A, and 87B on Elvet Bridge are two to three houses that have been converted into shops and offices. They date from the late 18th century, with late 19th-century shopfronts added. The buildings are constructed of painted brick and feature a roof covered with large Welsh slates, along with a rendered chimney. They stand two storeys tall with four bays facing Elvet Bridge and an additional storey and attic with one wide bay on the left side, which faces New Elvet.
The shops are designed in a Jacobean style, characterized by pilasters and a bracketed fascia topped with a prominent cornice. The doors in the first and third bays have panelled windows, while the other bays feature top lights above the shop windows. The gabled left return rises from the main front, creating a distinctive curve.
