Description
The premises occupied by W.H. Busby and Market Cottage are two houses dating from the early to mid-18th century, with the left house featuring a lintel dated J M 0 1734. The buildings are constructed of coursed squared rubble with ashlar dressings and quoins, topped with stone-flagged roofs. They are two storeys high and consist of two wide bays. The central paired doors have a chamfered square-headed surround, with the left door being battened and boarded, while the right door is flushed. A large plain window has been inserted on the left side, and there are flat stone lintels and projecting stone sills for the renewed sashes with glazing bars on the right and the first floor. A narrow blocked window is located at the centre of the first floor. Ridge chimneys are positioned at the outer ends of the buildings. This listing is included for its group value.
