Description
The outbuildings to the north of the Phoenix Inn are a carriage house, stables, and lofts dating from the early 19th century. They are constructed of coursed squared sandstone with quoins and ashlar dressings, topped with a stone-flagged roof. The building has two storeys and four bays, with the central two bays being higher. On the left side, there are boarded vehicle doors set under a segmental arch with voussoirs, and paired doors in the centre. To the left of centre, there is a plain stone surround to a boarded door. The building features four boarded loft openings with pecked flat stone lintels. The roof is adorned with banded ashlar end chimneys, although some roof flags were missing at the time of the survey.
