Description

Elwy Cottage, Laburnum Cottage, and Branton Cottage, along with their garden walls, form a terrace of three cottages built in the early 19th century, with some late 20th-century additions to the rear and right. The cottages are constructed from squared rubble and feature a graduated slate roof with stone chimney stacks.

The front of the terrace is continuous and two stories high, comprising five bays with flush tooled quoins. The entrances consist of partly-glazed six-panel doors set in flush surrounds, with paired doorways for Elwy and Laburnum Cottages in the second bay, and a single doorway for Branton Cottage in the fourth bay. There are blank bays above these doorways. The windows are 16-pane sashes with flush lintels and projecting sills. The cottages have end stacks and two ridge stacks that include top ledges and water tables.

The garden walls include a flat-coped front section with a narrow stone gate pier featuring a round top on the left, and a similar return wall at the junction between Laburnum and Branton Cottages.

The late 20th-century rear additions and a two-story addition to the right of Branton Cottage, along with a garden wall to the right of double iron gates, are not considered of special interest. The cottages are included for their group value.
