Description
The retaining walls and level entrance at Sharnberry Mine are features from a lead mine, likely built in the mid-19th century for the London Lead Company. They are constructed from roughly-coursed and squared sandstone rubble, with ashlar dressings. The retaining wall measures approximately 6 metres in length and 1.5 metres in height. At the right end, set back between the canted retaining walls, is an arch of irregular segmental shape made from voussoirs, which is located under another retaining wall that is also about 1.5 metres high, adjacent to the path leading to High Sharnberry.
