Description
White Kirkley Farmhouse is a late 17th-century farmhouse with 20th-century alterations, located in Stanhope. The farmhouse is constructed of sandstone rubble with quoins and ashlar dressings, and has a concrete tiled roof. It comprises a main block and a projecting right wing, forming an L-shape.
The south elevation of the main block is two storeys high and five bays wide. There are renewed doors in the second and fourth bays, the latter with a moulded square-headed surround. Inserted 20th-century windows are on the ground floor. The first floor has two three-light windows where the mullions have been removed, and two smaller windows to the right. The projecting right wing has a square-headed stone surround to a boarded door to the left. A ridge chimney sits on the left range, and a gable chimney on the right wing.
Inside the right wing is a chamfered segmental fire arch and a round-headed door to the right of the fireplace.
