Description

This is a limekiln located north-east of Bollihope Shield Farm, likely dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed from sandstone rubble with some millstone grit, featuring courses of varied thickness and thin courses of wide stones that occur regularly. The structure is built using dry construction techniques and has obliquely-set round coping. There is a high retaining wall that includes two corbelled arches leading to the kilns, while the right retaining wall is stepped back. The interiors of the kilns are also corbelled.
