STANHOPE B6278 (East side,off) NY 94 SE NZ 996418 Stanhope 11/138 Stockton and Darlington Railway marker about 530 metres south of Weatherhill Engine GV II

Railway marker stone; c.1845. Sandstone slab about one metre high with round top, pecked sides and S&D/R inscribed in Roman capitals on east face. Marks west edge of railway incline first-engineered by T.E. Harrison and R. Stephenson for the Stanhope and Tyne Railroad Company in 1832.
