Description
This outbuilding, located south of Stanhope Hall Mill, is likely a former smithy and stables from the early 19th century. It is constructed from coursed sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a stone-flagged roof. The building has two storeys and consists of seven bays. There are boarded doors in the second and fifth bays, with the fifth bay being wider. The windows are irregularly arranged and include 2- and 3-light casements with glazing bars, some of which are set under flat stone lintels. The upper-floor windows are positioned above the doors, while the right bay is blank. This outbuilding is included for its group value with the surrounding structures.
